Happy New Year
09th January 2010
First 2010 visit to St Leonards.
I took advantage of a free day and trained it to St Leonards for the first visit of the year and the first visit for nearly
a month. Within a few minutes of my arrival in bright sunshine and blue skies, from nowhere it became a blizzard.
I saw in the distance the four special constables and legged it after them pretty much visualising the shot posted
here. I managed to shoot just two frames before they took shelter . Ironically my previous visit was similar in that
virtually the first shot of the day felt like a jackpot and worth the visit in itself. As it happens the blizzard was soon
replaced by more gorgeous low warm winter sunshine and crisp blue skies and I made many other pictures I was really
pleased with. I also shot to other important aspects of the St Lens regen story. Work starting on the refit of
Jempsons deli on the old bakery site in Kings Road and the Hastings College site which has posted plans to demolish
and build over a 100 homes on this key site. This is going to be a major opportunity for St Lens to create some
exciting buildings on a historic central site and make up for the "vandalism' by planners in the sixties. The initial plans
are very unpopular. Watch this space...
