This England

24th March 2010
I had a meet up with photographer Simon Roberts yesterday. Simon has just been appointed by the House of commons as the artist to record the forthcoming election. See his web site for all the details it's a very informative site not only about his work, but photography in general.
Simon was very generous (I bought lunch)and gave me a couple of hours to view and discuss my work. It's important from a self development perspective to engage with other photographers and evaluate work and ideas ref picture making. The internet really supports this kind of interchange, I took a punt and emailed Simon after seeing his work and realising he lived near me. I really appreciated that he got back to me . From the meeting I'm sure many of the points raised will inform positively on my picture making.
A few months ago Jeff Liao an American photographer had a show at Crane Callman in Brighton.
His pictures hanging in the window were creating lots of interest with quite big groups huddled together to look. I took some snaps, looked him up on the internet and sent him the pictures, which he was very pleased to have got. The internet really does work sometimes.
